Abstract
This study aimed to explore the association between unmet healthcare needs and unmet long-term care needs among the Korea elderly. We analysed the prevalence of unmet healthcare needs and its relation with unmet long-term care needs using the 2014 Survey of Living Conditions and Welfare Needs of Korean Older Persons. Specifically, we examined the gender interaction effect of unmet long-term care needs on unmet healthcare needs in a logistic regression framework. It is shown that older adults who are female or of socio-economic status have a higher prevalence of unmet healthcare needs. Also, unmet long-term care needs are shown to increase the likelihood of unmet healthcare needs, especially among men. Further research is needed to explore the dynamics of quality of life among the elderly.
